What's in a Name!
The word Delta means 'change' in Latin and in 1992 John Mitchell felt that it was about time for a change in the way gymnastics was offered in Brisbane.
John felt that there were many good gymnastics programs in the country that were built on the talents and skills of individual coaches. John believed that if he could harness the knowledge and understanding of the best coaches that he could systemize the step by step progression of gymnastic learning and provide a consistent learning opportunity for every child that came to Delta.
John has always had a philosophy of employing the best coaches at Delta, and each one has added to the Delta system of lesson plans, curriculum, staff training and events that make the Delta system. In 1998-2001 John worked closely with outstanding coach and educator Laureen Tkacik who designed the original Delta curriculum and structure which has evolved and developed over the past ten years.
Each Delta class is directed by the unique Delta Curriculum and Lesson Plans which provide the fundamental direction to coaches of how to prepare each child to get the most out of gymnastics. The curriculum breaks up gymnastic learning into the small steps that allow children to progress quickly and feel confident as they learn and develop.
Our Carnival / competition system provides key ongoing feedback to each child and parent as to how each child is progressing and allows senior coaches to provide ongoing feedback to our junior coaches.
The foundation of the entire Delta system is the desire of each coach to assist every child grow and develop. At Delta we provide our coaches with the tools they need to challenge each child to be the best they can be.
