Have you ever checked out a gymnast’s hands? Once you get through the layers of chalk (!) you may notice callouses or even a popped blister, which those in the know, call a rip!  Rips can be a common (and somewhat painful) experience in a gymnast’s life.  No doubt at some stage of your child doing gymnastics, they will come home and show you the rip they have on their hands! So check out these rip care tips to help keep your gymnast’s hands cared for!

At our recent Aspire Parent Meetings a mum asked how to protect her daughter’s hands when she has a rip and needs to swing bars at gymnastics.

Delta Director, John Mitchell has prepared this quick how to video on how to make a rip guard from strapping tape.  This quick and easy guard is great for children who have a rip, to protect the area during their bars session.  All you need is a roll of strapping tape and some scissors!
