Delta Brisbane makes it a Three-Peat at the National Club Championships!

Our Level 6 girls lead the way at the event as the girls girls to compete.  They emerged from the finals with a record 5 gold medals winning the Overall Team event as well as each apparatus.

The level 7 team (which included two Level 6 girls who have moved up to Level 7 for this event) were equal to the task and won the Level 7 event in what was a very close meet, edging out Blackert Academy from New South Wales by just 0.4pts.

The Level 8 Team were not to be outdone!  This team was plagued by sickness and injury and before the event started we invited Level 6 Kaitlin Darrach to compete up at Level 8 and join the team.  Our most Senior Gymnast Ally Smith pulled herself out of bed each night (from a head cold) and competed like a champion.  When Jess Wigglesworth jarred her knees in the first round the girls were very worried.  Lead by Taylor Ryan, the girls had to count every score in the finals and did so to win the Level 8 event on each apparatus and Overall. (Taylor ended up being the highest ranked girl in the country and outscored the Japanese team girls.)

The Level 10 girls showed great focus and determination to place 3rd Overall, 3rd on Bars and were named the National Champions on Floor.

On the final day we had to rely on the Level 4 and 5 teams to defend the lead created by the Level 6 - 10's and the girls did just that.

The Level 4 girls did an amazing job to close the lead on 1st and 2nd to place 3rd overall.  (Special mention to Kahlee Mace who placed 1st overall in Australia in the finals).

The Level 5 girls were under pressure to defend their preliminary round 1st place (by just 0.1pts) by competing in the final head to head with Buritz Gymanstics Club from Sydney.  The girls did an amazing job to increase their lead and win the crown of Level 5 National Club Champions.

All in all it was a great meet and the girls should be very proud of their performances.  Thankyou to coaches Wendy, Lauren and John as well as chaperones Vikci Moore, Donna Frazer, Jaunita King and Carol O'Brien. (along with visits from many of the other parents who assisted at times over the week.)
