HIGHLIGHTS
Day 3 saw the girls Level 5 Under 11 and Open divisions completed along with the Level 7 Girls, Level 7 Boys and Level 6 Boys.
In the Level 5 Under Division Delta scored a 1st, to 5th finish with Chelsi Mikeska starring in a tight finish to win the Overall State Champion crown. Chelsi (Delta SHS) beat Amber Fraser (Delta Bris), Savarnah Nielsen (Delta SHS), Rachel Armstrong (Delta SHS) and Charlee McIlwaine (Delta Bris) in a rare Delta 1st - 5th Finish. Rebecca Jorgensen became the State Champion on Beam and placed 8th Overall.
In the Level 5 Open Division Delta placed 1, 2, 3 with Maddie Ryan placing 1st, Brie Walker 2nd and Lauren Tam 3rd. Nisa Morgan won Gold on Beam and placed 8th Overall, Lauren Moore 12th, JAtalia Hoxha 16th, Ellen Henry 27th, Chloe Perrin 28th and Milli Demichelle 29th (out of 61 who qualified to States). On her return from injury, Tahlia Hensley did a great job to compete on Uneven Bars.
In the Level 7 Division Sidney McIlwaine is the new State Champion with Sophie Musgrave 2nd. Laura Purdie finished in 8th position and Alicia Biggs 9th. Jess Wigglesworth competed on only Beam and Bars in which she won the Silver Medal on both apparatus.
In the Boys Events Tim Wilson placed 4th Overall and won the Bronze medal on Floor and Silver Medals on PBar and High Bar in the Level 7 Open division. Jordan Reed placed 5th Overall in the Level 6 Open division with a Bronze on Floor and Gold Medal on Vault.
On day 4 Delta Gymnasts achieved to their best.
In the girls Level 6 Under 11 division Tess Hannah and Leah Nelson tied for Overall State Champion while Rachel Clark placed 6th, Courtney Cambell 10th (with a silver on Bars) and Zoe Smith placed 12th.
In the girls Level 6 Open division Lauren Galvin was crowned State Champion while Olivia Dykes placed 3rd Overall, Alex Johnson 4th, Tiahna Scanlon 5th, Chanel Aguilar 13th, Shauna O'Halloren-Anderson 19th and Jana Hoxha 24th. Kaitlin Darrach competed on only Vault and Bars to place 10th and 8th place respectively.
Congratulations to Lauren Galvin, Tess Hannah and Leah Nelson who were selected to represent Queensland in the 2009 Border Challenge Queensland Team.
In the Boys competition we congratulate Alex Papamanolis who placed 11th Overall in the Level 5 Open Division.
